Case study: Remuera bathroom renovation
Project type: Bathroom renovation
Project year: 2017
Project location: Rangitoto Ave, Remuera
The client had one ensuite, one main bathroom and a separate toilet to renovate for the first time in over 20 years. The old bathrooms were tired and dated, and when we opened up the wall we found a leak from the in-wall cistern of one toilet that had been happening for some time.
We totally overhauled the bathrooms and worked with a bathroom designer to achieve the look that the client was after. This meant totally removing everything and starting from the framing. We also had to replace some weatherboards outside as well as flooring due to the cistern leak. Starting from scratch gave us the opportunity to make sure what we were building was square and plumb, which is very important for tiling. We worked with the client to achieve perfect tile lines and set outs with the equipment that they had purchased for the bathrooms. The finished bathrooms were well thought out, high end bathrooms that the clients were very happy with.
- Tiled showers with flush thresholds (we recessed the floor so that there is no step into the shower)
- Feature shower niche for storage of shampoo bottles
- Recessed glass shelving beside the mirror
- Hidden lighting behind mirrors
